DECEMBER 2007

DECEMBER NEWSLETTER

First of all, Happy Holidays (ALL of them!!); during this month virtually every religion of the world has a major celebration-component to it…

Celebration is so much more a part of the human need than most of us ever realize. Most cultures in the world today have survived to this point based on the concept of duty, responsibility, hard work, and lots of sacrifice: without going into reasons why, this is has always been a way of keeping the masses from rebelling against the small number of people in power. However, now we’re definitely in very new paradigm – where the old ways of living and doing things are OVER.... What’s coming up for us all to think about is what we want to keep as aspects from the past, as well as what we want to bring into our lives that we purely and simply create for ourselves from anything available in the entire world. Celebration, I feel, is an important aspect to incorporate into our everyday lives; this concept has been suppressed far too long.

One of the last things I ever want to do is to sound preachy-or-teachy! (I can’t abide that kind of stuff – at all!) The point of even bringing this up is that my Guides are telling me that they want to encourage you to give yourself permission to really enjoy whatever appeals to you most about the celebration aspect of this final month of the year. Part and parcel of this is that you don’t let anyone make you feel wrong for what gives you joy and happiness re finding your own rhythm about adding celebrations – go for it!

This month wraps up an entire year of working on the concept of dignity. Whether or not you worked with the information from my newsletters each and every month, or began later in the year (and worked on it each month since then), or even just did a few things here and there during the course of 2007, you absolutely have made some impact on your own dignity factor. Believe it or not – it is true. One thing I knew back in January (but also knew I was not meant to say anything about), when I was Guided to discuss the concept of dignity each month, is that anybody reading this website and attempting to increase their dignity, was going to be enhancing by at least fifteen times, the amount of energy and attention than what he or she could possibly realize was being directed outwards into the world. I can see that, all together, what each person has done to increase their dignity has accomplished more than what any single individual could possibly understand. You have begun working in an entirely new way with one of the core issues everyone on Earth needs to address – dignity. Bizzare as this may sound, I can actually see everyone who has read anything in my newsletters that has attempted to do something in this arena this past year. You have made a far greater impact than you are aware of. This will only affect you back, in ever increasing ways.

It’s amazing how just opening yourself up to trying something new for your own greater good, and the good of anyone and anything around you (remember how I had mentioned giving dignity to plants, animals – anything on the face of the Earth?) has a reverberation greater than what virtually anyone can see or know.

As silly as this may sound, you have shifted your life in some greater way than you can imagine. I am being told, as I write this, that dignity is the greatest force needed in the world today – it is even more powerful and more of a base for what the world needs, than even compassion. So, as you are reading this, you still have a few weeks left in this year to continue working on doing whatever you can to increase anyone’s or anything’s dignity level around you: if everyone in the world has more dignity, no one would allow the atrocities to occur that are taking place constantly in so many places of the world.

Why not continue throughout this next year – and beyond – and to continue to increase your own dignity?

Affirmations re Dignity

The more I feel a sense of dignity and self worth in my life, the more I feel liberated.

I am so grateful that I have allowed Divine support to heal me in such a way that I am now able to feel, be, and give the all-important vibration of dignity.

I am dignity personified.

Re Sleep

Most people feel the urge to sleep more during winter months. However, most of us tend to fight that urge, and try work harder. But – it’s important for us to allow ourselves to give in to our innate, even biological, need more sleep during the winter months...

In a recent New Scientist magazine, studies suggest that lack of sleep can affect a person’s moral judgment… Also, January 2008’s British Vogue states sleep deprivation affects memory, blood pressure, immune system. It may even raise stress hormones, which can increase weight and irritability.

There was an important study done recently by several US organizations, re how not having enough sleep affects the rest of our lives. This huge study was part of a collaboration amongst the following bodies: US Federal Highways Commission, University of New South Wales; University of California San Diego; North Carolina Univeristy; Walter Reed Army Institute of Reach; John Hopkins University. Here are some of the results:

IF YOU SLEEP FOR LESS THAN:

IF YOU’VE BEEN AWAKE FOR:

4hrs
Your Immune system becomes compromised. A University of Chicago research exposed sleep deprived students (4 hrs a night for 6 nights) to flu vaccine, their immune systems produced half the normal amount of antibodies. Stress levels rose, heart rate increased, as did blood pressure.

5hrs
The risk of diabetes increases. Boston University School of Medicine  suggests that those with less than 5 hrs/ night sleep were 2.5x more likely to develop diabetes, than those having 7-8 hrs. It also increases the risk of being overweight, according to research as Bristol Univerity. Those with 5hrs sleep/ night were found to have 15% more of a hormone that increases feelings of hunger – and 15% less of one that suppresses appetite.

6hrs
High blood pressure is a risk. According to “Hypertension” those with 6 hrs or less sleep had over 2x the risk of high blood pressure.

10hrs
Levels of stress hormone cortisol begin to rise; blood pressure may rise.

*12hrs
The likely hood of having a car accident more than doubles. Heart rate begins to slow.

17-28hrs
Speed in mental task slows to the equivalent of someone having drunk the drink/drive legal limit of alcohol.

24hrs
Risk-taking behavior increases. Verbal fluency declines.

48hrs
Effectiveness of immune system declines.

53hrs
Ability to make moral jugement declines.

72hrs
Speed and accuracy of computer testing dropped to 30% of normal.

85hrs
Brain activity declines significantly

Unusual Gifts

Here’s a perfect gift for cat lovers:

  • It’s entitled “The original cat toilet training system – Little Kwitter.” Also called “Kat Lav” – it’s new toilet training system that claims to teach cats how to use the bathroom just like humans! Fixed to an ordinary toilets, pets will visit the loo the same as the rest of us, within weeks. The device’s creator, Jo Lapidge, was inspired to come up with the invention after watching the 2004 Ben Stiller film ‘Meet the Fockers,’ in which the cat owned by Robert Dinero is fully toilet trained. This system is actually endorsed by animal psychology and behavior specialists, vet and animal welfare agencies including the RSPCA. It comes with the system, which sells for about USD, 80., and comes an instruction manual and training DVD.
  • Philips LivingColors light. From www.amazon.co.uk. The price is about USD 200. The LivingColors lamp contains four light emitting diods that can fill the room with more than 16million color combinations! This can be a lot of fun to play around with, as well as a phenomenal tool to work with colors to create the moods you’d like to experience.

If you have an unusual or interesting idea that you’d like to see mentioned, please do let me know! Just send a link to Victoria@victoriabullis.com up until about the 20th of this month.
